Piezosurgery is an innovative osteotomy technique using piezoelectric ultrasonic vibrations. We propose that piezosurgery is beneficial for medical safety and usability. Our study demonstrated experimentally that piezosurgery provides a smooth cut bony surface with no damage to soft tissues and takes longer time to cut bone than conventional drillings. Damage to soft tissues was examined histologically, and the cut surface of bone was investigated using scanning electron microscopy. We measured the time for cutting bone and soft tissues of rats with the piezoelectric device and rotary instruments. This study was designed to test the hypothesis that cutting time of the piezoelectric device is longer than that of rotary instruments while the cut surface of bone is smoother and soft tissues are less damaged with piezosurgery under the standardized experimental system. the time required for cutting bone and the effect on soft tissues under the standardized conditions. However, none of the previous literature has reported any evidence of scientific experiments to examine performance of the piezoelectric device, i.e. The surgical technique has been clinically supposed to cut mineralized bone selectively with reducing the risk of damage to adjacent soft tissues. The patient experiences minimal surgical trauma and rapid postoperative healing.Īt Advanced Periodontics we use state-of-the-art technology to advance your oral health and aesthetics in our Hamden and New Haven offices.Piezosurgery is an innovative technique widely used for osteotomies in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery. There is less inflammation following procedures performed with piezosurgery.Piezosurgery allows for flat cuts and curvilinear cuts.Piezosurgery allows for easy collection of grafting material, such as bone blocks or bone chips for dental implants.Piezosurgery allows bone cutting and splitting with maximum precision. Patients generally experience reduced traumatic stress during procedures where piezosurgery is used to cut the bone.Piezosurgical devices do not heat up with use, meaning there is no danger of thermal damage to the adjacent tissue.Operator sensitivity and control are therefore improved, so the clinician can develop a better feel for the micro-vibrations that create the cutting action. Piezosurgery requires reduced hand pressure. The ultrasonic unit can, with limited bone loss, prepare a bony window for easy access to the impacted tooth or root.Visibility of the operative area is improved due to a blood-free surgical site.Bone that has been cut regenerates more rapidly. It provides confidence in knowing that soft tissues within the sinus will remain intact during surgery and reduces surgical time drastically, thereby minimizing postoperative discomfort and recovery time for our patients. Most specifically, this device has changed the way we graft maxillary sinuses that require large volumes of bone. We are able to use this tool in a wide range of dental applications, including oral surgery, implantology, and periodontics. The handheld device generates micro-vibrations to safely and precisely cut through bone while leaving soft tissues and vital anatomical structures untouched. This technique has become increasingly common in dental practices. Another advancement in dental technology offered at Advanced Periodontics is Piezosurgery, a new bone-cutting technique that involves the use of ultrasonic waves. It’s part of their routine, something they both expect: Perry bursts in, gets trapped, patiently listens to doof’s rant of the day, escapes the trap, fights his nemesis, and blows up the Inator. And he always waits for Doofenshmirtz to finish monologuing before escaping from them. Sadie was quite a fan of this plan as it meant she was able to enjoy extra rounds of fetch, long walks and playtime at the park.Bold of you to assume that Perry doesn’t let himself get trapped on purpose at least 2/3 of the time. The weather was fantastic in Charlotte this weekend and beckoned to us to spend as much time as possible outside. Pizza for breakfast doesn’t happen often but when it does, I love every second of it! It takes me back to childhood sleepovers when we’d all dig into cold pizza for breakfast the next morning. The leftover pizza made for a great breakfast on Sunday morning! Pizza for breakfast will always be a personal favorite. On Saturday night, we ordered pizza and watched some of the March Madness games with friends at our house. That’s the goal, anyway! (If you’re in a nursery planning phase right now and love the neutral look as well, you can see more of my nursery inspiration photos on my Baby board on Pinterest.) The above photos reflect my nursery vision – aka my dream nursery! Even though I’m sure our nursery will not look nearly as gorgeous as my inspiration photos, I’m hoping we can achieve a look that’s neutral and very calming. Ryan finished painting the nursery this weekend! Yay! I am so grateful to him for taking over this monotonous task while I straightened up the house and we’re both very pleased with the end result. This was a great decision and I’m pretty sure Ryan and I will never return to Bonefish Grill again without ordering this dish! They were warm and doughy with a crispy, sugary outside – perfect for dipping in fluffy whipped cream and buttery caramel sauce. We couldn’t leave without ordering something sweet and turned to the IN + ON Bar Bites menu again and selected the doughnut bites for dessert. He could not stop raving about the oysters and I’m crossing my fingers that they’ll still be on the menu when I’m no longer pregnant and can order raw oysters again since they’re one of my favorite foods! Ryan went with more classic seafood dishes and ordered the ceviche appetizer and an oyster dish off the seasonal menu. I was craving a big, juicy burger like nobody’s business and as someone who could basically eat seafood all day everyday, this totally surprised me! I went with the craving though and I was so, so glad I did because the burger knocked my socks off. They were very cheesy and we had no problem polishing off every last one before our entrées came out.įor my main meal, I went a bit out of character and ordered the burger! Yes, a burger at a seafood restaurant… Let’s roll with it! The lobster taco was my favorite bite, as it was served in a crispy wonton taco shell which I thought was really innovative and also quite delicious! We shared the mac + cheese bites that came out in a bed of sweet chili sauce that definitely added to the flavor of the dish. Ryan was a big fan of the shooter – neither of us had ever seen anything like it before – and I was bummed I wasn’t able to try it since raw oysters are off the table for me right now. ( Clockwise from left to right: Oyster Shooter, Lobster Taco, Mac + Cheese Bites) We then selected an assortment of appetizers from the IN + ON Bar Bites menu to try. Ryan and I began our meal with drinks – a blackberry mocktail for me, please! Leggings with a little flare? Yes, please! This poncho sweater was ridiculously comfortable and will also continue to work when I actually do have a big baby bump underneath!Īnd the maternity zip leggings are right up my alley. If you send me a giant cape-like sweater during this super-awkward stage in pregnancy, I will absolutely wear it! My belly just looks super thick right now and lacks the cute, rounded baby bump shape, so giant sweaters/tunics are my best friend. I broke into my latest Stitch Fix box and wore two items from my first maternity fix. The highpoint of our weekend occurred on Friday night when Ryan and I headed out for a date night at Bonefish Grill!Ī little more than a month ago, Bonefish Grill reached out to me with an invitation to sample a few goodies from their new IN + ON Bar Bites menu and we finally got around to planning a night out on Friday! This weekend was all about productivity for the Fagan family! We spent the vast majority of our Saturday and Sunday cleaning and organizing around house but in between deep cleaning our master bathroom (much needed!), working in the yard and making multiple trips to Lowe’s, we somehow managed to have some fun, too! Gold Slime in Slime Rancher cannot be caught or captured with a Vackpack. Can Gold Slime Be Captured The short answer is no. These slimes can be RAGING fast when startled, finding them was hard enough, now GoLdBOb is running away sooooo fast that the world is like a snail race to him. This guide will explain how Gold Slime works in Slime Rancher and how to make them drop their precious Gold Plorts. The gold slime secret style is Gilded, a gold slime with patterns on it and to mini wings on its head but can't fly. To find Gold Slimes in Slime Rancher 2, you must go to the new regions and travel a lot. The Gold Slime is the rarest slime that can be found across Far, Far Range in Slime Rancher. This gets you roughly 21 gold plorts for each gold gordo. The basic idea is this: Fulfil the quest to get the gingers, use the gingers to pop the gold gordos, then bash the gold slimes that come out with carrots or whatever. If a player desires to obtain their plorts, one should keep a distance and aim carefully at the Gold Slime with resources. 2nd : first you need 4 gilded ginger and a master gordo snare and some food one, step one once you have the 4 gilded gingers put 1 of them in the master gordo snare and when the golden gordo arrives you make him eat the other 3, step 2 with food you collected one the golden gordo is popped you just need to throw food at the golden slimes. Its just helpful as a reference) The concept to the rush mode is counter intuitive. Gold Slimes are fast and are capable of jumping and then jetting more than a hundred feet before vanishing into the sky when startled. But first, I offer some fundamentals about Shintō as a spiritual system and trees in Japanese culture. ) Therefore, I will focus on my own personal experience as an animist, an arborist specializing in ancient trees, TreeGirl the photographer, and my inquiry based upon my own literary research. Shintō is sometimes referred to as an “intuitive religion” (“ chokkan shukyō”), the essence of which can only be grasped experientially (and supposedly not completely understandable by Westerners. I will preface by saying that as a Westerner, my understanding of Shintō is limited based my brief thirty-day experience visiting Japan. Here I share with you five stories of my encounters with five phenomenal trees ‘who’ unexpectedly and forever changed the way I understood trees. So much so, that I was confused about what, or who, was so powerful: was it the tree itself, the ‘spirit’ of the tree, or the kami who I was experiencing? This kind of mysterious encounter with more-than-human beings experienced through sensory perception, is what I term “phenomenality”. In my experience, the presence, power, and energy-and I would say “holiness”- that these trees radiate go way beyond anything I had previously encountered in my twenty-five career. I was very curious to meet them and understand more about the dynamic between Shintōism and trees what makes these particular ancient trees so culturally an spiritually significant? Shinboku are especially large, old, or notably magnificent to anyone who is in their presence. On a month-long tree- and forest-therapy research expedition in Japan in Spring of 2019, I made pilgrimages to sacred trees known as shinboku (or goshinboku)-trees that are revered as sacred dwelling places, shrines for kami - Shintō deities or spirits. I have traveled all over the world in my search for these trees, which has inadvertently led to an ecopsychological study of the human-tree relationship. My aim is to invite intimacy with the wild, as a way to ‘rebond’ with wild nature, that from which we as a modern, industrialized culture in crisis has become alienated and disassociated. My intention in documenting these experiences is both aesthetic in the genre of classic beauty, and to show that as humans, there is no separation between us and nature. I have captured beautiful, and sometimes energetically ecstatic, private moments on film (using a remote control) of myself in the nude intertwined with these trees. If I feel inspired, and it feels safe and right to do so, I respectfully climb the tree, finding the places where I ‘fit”, as a form of somatic ecotherapy and meditation. In my practice, I listen to each ‘spirit of the tree’ energetically and psychically. I seek these trees out like a treasure hunt because I want to experience the wisdom and energy of these wise elders that cannot be somatically and sensorially understood from a photograph alone. My fascination with trees is equally ecological, sensory, and spiritual, but I mostly depend on my intuitive senses to guide me. As the self-portrait photographer and arborist TreeGirl, I have spent hours of intimate time with hundreds of trees-some of the most ancient and largest individuals on the planet. It's why I have 10 blogs currently finished and ready to publish in my queue and why I'm pretty caught up right now and just have one wedding and two engagement shoots (one of which I shot tonight) to edit. They allow us to use the photos on our website and portfolio 90 days after the wedding so the night of the wedding, I upload everything, pull out the top 60-75 or so, edit them, write a quick blog and set it to publish after my 90-day wait clause. I also use this approach to the weddings I second shoot for a national company. In the email I send the sneak peeks in, I also give my couples a link to my editing queue so they have a page they can follow and know when I'll be done with the photos (Which gets them off my back in terms of endless questions) and tell them roughly when they can expect to see the pics finished. The two words making up the phrase 'sneak peek,' namely 'sneak' and 'peek,' have different origins. As an expression, it denotes a brief preview or advanced look at something before it becomes generally available or fully developed. The reasoning is I don't expect my couples to be on social media the night of their wedding BUT I know the next day they're going to be looking through friends and family's photos and I want MY photos to be the first good ones they see. The term 'sneak peek' is a relatively modern idiom that originated in English. I can't go to sleep until I'm plucked out a dozen or so and sent them off. The night of a shoot, be it a wedding or an engagement session, I send 6-12 sneak peeks.ĭoesn't matter if I have a triple wedding weekend or if I don't get home until 2 a.m. I've been told by friends that I'm insane for this but I don't care. My trusty 360 controller was a decent experience, but the game won’t highlight interactive objects-instead you’ll have to pay attention to which way Manny is looking. It’s a control scheme that kind of makes sense because you’re dealing with constantly-changing camera angles, so camera-relative controls are a bit awkward. Like Resident Evil (and some other early 3D games), Grim Fandango was all about tank controls. The graphics overhaul on Grim Fandango is spiffy, but honestly people who played the original will probably be most excited about the new controls. Here’s what the game looks like in 4:3 with borders. I played in the latter because I hate borders, but the obvious drawback is that “skeletal” Manny Calavera looks pretty fat, like he’s the skeleton of a retired football player. I think you need to see a doctor.”Īs for accommodating modern monitors, you can play the game in 4:3 (native), 4:3 with some vaguely Aztec or Art Deco-inspired borders on the left and right, or in 16:9 stretched. Most, if not all, have clearly just been resized to fit the higher resolutions, resulting in grainy and blurry backdrops that look entirely out of place compared to the smooth character models. Your pal Glottis is the worst of the lot, with some weird bulgy arm muscles that tend to clip through each other. Other times, a bad model or awkward shading reminds you that yeah, this is a game from 1998. At times it’s stunningly gorgeous-there’s almost a claymation feel to certain scenes. Instead we get Grim Fandango but smoothed out a bit for modern high-resolution monitors-smoother edges on 3D objects, for instance. Don’t go into this expecting as extensive a remake as, say, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. This is Grim Fandango Remastered, meaning it’s basically a prettied-up version of Grim Fandango. Now with that out of the way, let me talk about the “remastered” part of Grim Fandango Remastered. Okay, you want an example? How about “There are beavers that are on fire and you have to lure them to jump off a cliff and shoot them with a fire extinguisher so they drown in a tar river”? Is that asinine enough for you? Because I almost had an aneurysm typing it. Seriously, and I can’t say this enough, some of the puzzles are absurd. Don’t let the game ruin your enjoyment of the game. Just do yourself a favor: Open a walkthrough, read the solution, say “Wow, that’s asinine,” move on, and continue enjoying the game’s excellent writing. If you haven’t played before, you’re going to get stuck. Some caveats: It’s a 90s adventure game, meaning it is full of asinine puzzles where the solutions barely make sense. |
